I bought this amp because I wanted something small that sounded better than just a practice amp. I gave up playing out or with others years ago when I started noticing severe hearing loss with a good dose of Tinnitus in its place. Actually, I gave up playing altogether because I found it depressing. I recently decided it would be beneficial to start playing for myself (at lower levels) so I took my Fender 40th Anniversary Precision out from under the bed and went looking for a small amp. I checked out a lot of stuff but quickly realized that there were not that many real choices. I easily removed the Hartke Kickback from the running as it was more expensive, had less features and didn't sound as good to my ringing ears. I also considered the Carvin PB100-10 but not being able to hear it coupled with its taller profile (needs to be able to hide under an end table--Wife Acceptance Factor) eliminated that. This really was the choice. I listened to the 12 but other than increased size/weight, I found the 10 to be tighter with little sacrifice in low end--perhaps due to the large speaker-to-cabinet volume ratio and the extra SPL was not a factor. I couldn't be happier with it. It's crisp with a deep, tight low end. All the features/flexibility I could want/need. It's also one of the few (actually I don't know of any others this size) that has an available matching cabinet. I could easily see this amp w/ extension cab't handling a small club with ease. That's 2 small 30 lb. boxes. This is one hot little piece of amp...
