First up, nice solid nordic / swedish build quality. Few concerns about it breaking easy.I was initially a bit turned off by the Volvo like tank construction but once it proved its sound quality I realised the chunky design was totally fine. As it looks - this thing sounds BIG, chunky, deep and bassy, warm and valvey. I use it right now through a crate bass head which already has an ok transistor sound, but with this EBS VD before it, it really sounds like a tube rig, overdriven, rumbling and raging.
This thing can really do a lot of positive stuff to the bass sound. I have not heard any other pedal produce such a mssive transformation character. It rounds everything off in a very nice way. The EQ is known for being light, but thats ok. I think it is there for subtle enhancements to the sound, becase it never gets harsh no matter which way you turn it. The bass, though, is the killer. It really makes a world of difference in the weight of your sound.
Switching options are nice, mute / bypass, output boost, vintage switch which muffles things up in a nice old warm 60's way.
Bummer there is only one output cos it would be dope to give a sound guy a DI from this. But it goes into my Sans Amp bass driver anyways.
I don't have an amp, I have my entire sound in a set of quality pedals that I can swing over my shoulder and visit mates with. So this thing delivers me fat tube tone in a super portable design. Think I will end up with a Schroeder bass cabint 1212, too, so I will have this super mobile mini monster rig :-)
