EMail : soulbrother@soneramail.nl Before I bought the Silverado, I used a old style, SECOND HAND SWR Redhead with a Goliath Jr. which had been heavily used through the years. The sound was still ok, but it lacked some volume on stage and it didn't sound too fresh anymore. Anyway, one day I saw this Silverado Special and it looked very cool right away; solid and simple: 2 fat speakers, a tweeter and a simple control panel whichs looks like a mirror. Using a cheap but good Basscollection 4 string to try it out, I was knocked out by its incredible powerfull and fat sound! And it's loud too!! After 5 minutes I knew this baby would be mine (maybe it's because of this cool blue LED which lights up when you press ON) I'm using the Silverado for about 9 months now and I will never use another combo. I believe that your amp is meant to be an extension of your bass and NOT to be THE SOUND of your bass. The Silverado sounds very natural: you can really hear the character of your instrument. That, combined with that fat, "full-of-pressure" SWR sound, is all you ever need, no matter what kind of music you play. On stage it's an animal. I'm using an active Van der End (Dutch luthier) 4-string Jazzbass with EMG-J pick-ups (very good bass) and in combination with the Silverado it gives me a big and loud sound: full of highs (sound is darker when turning the tweeter off), growly mids and boomy lows. Most important: the sound is very supportive, it DELIVERS as long as you want without complaining. And if you think you're loud on stage, you still CAN turn up the volume. Such a big sound for a relatively "small" box. If you play a 5 or 6 string bass I would recommend adding another speaker cabinet like Goliath Jr. or Son of Bertha for more air movement. All I can say is I'm very happy with it and I highly recommend it to all players who need pro-quality and who like it simple and plain. "What you see is what you get" doesn't apply, you get more.
