I have been playing for over 25 years and have owned this bass for over 10 years. It has been one of the few basses I have held close to my heart. I have owned too many other basses and amp systems to mention but this has been one bass that I have stuck with. I also owned the TRB-6P and it only left my hands because I didn't find that I was soloing enough which I feel is what a 6 string is really made for. I have used the TRB-5P to play all different types of Jazz, Country, Rock, Heavy Metal, Funk (slap and pop too) and R&B. It plays well in just about any style. I love how the action can be so low and yet still not buzz or slow me down. Because it has both Precision, Jazz and Piezos for pickups it has a variety of different sounds that come alive. This version is no longer made the same by Yamaha however, as the lastest version doesn't have a neck through the body. It's now a bolt on. This is all a matter of taste but I personally like neck through. Over the years I have had to have the pots cleaned and get the input jack replaced and that's it. The tuning pegs are going to need replacement soon but Yamaha told me just to call them when I need new ones. I highly recommend this bass but don't ever purchase any bass unless you can put it in your hands to see what it feels like and listen to what it sounds like! This one has done it for me.
