This cab. served me well but, was actually muddy and way too heavy! I bought this cab. a little over 2 years ago. Wondered about it because it had a 500 watt stamp though. I thought they were all 400 watt? Well Ampeg i guess produced only a few of these cabs from what i was told. So i tested it out and put 1000 watts of clean and distorted, from F# to F. It handled it very well but, the cab design is truely for guys that play 5's and 6's! My 4 string had a problem with it though. It was like i needed to play just my 8 string (tuned F# to F), just to get the air and speakers moving! The portability was nice with the rear casters, until you had to lift it your self! I would rather save my hands and back for playing!!!!!! Durability was phenominal! I've dropped it, smacked it, banged it, had a beer bottle broken over it, dog pee on it, as well as dog and human barf! Wiped clean and not one crack or dent!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! IT TRUELY IS A TANK!!!!!! Oh, almost forgot. DON'T BLOW THE RESISTIVE BULB FOR THE HORN!!!!! First if you have this cabinet, BUY THE BULBS NOW!!!!! You may not be able to find them later! The bulb is a 28 v dual element used european automobiles! Not the smartest thing Ampeg has done!!!!!! Also try to get just one or pay less than $10.00 per bulb! Alot of places will make you buy a case (10 bulbs) then your in for $100 to $150 bucks! But now i no longer play Ampeg! I switched to a Trace Elliot!!!!! And well, for a 2x10 combo, my back and hands do not suffer any more! Plus it handles my Read custom 8 (not stacked) and my 4 strings better than the Ampeg also!
