I have used the same set of these strings on a passive, string-through-body Fender P-bass for four years. They sound like they did the day I bought them. They have the rather stereotypical nylon qualities of smoothness, softness and low tension. They are fat, but nimble. I bend, hammer-on, pull-off, use harmonics and slap and these strings are great for all of it. With my one tone knob and a modest amp (w/LMH eq.) I can go from an upright sound that is popular in jazz circles to a very good rock and roll sound. I did a complete setup, but they were actually pretty close. The intonation is good and the strings hold tuning well. It's usually a couple of months between tunings, and I only need to do intonation maybe twice a year, and then it's maybe five cents sharp on each string. They are not for everybody (a modern sounding level of punch is not to be had in them) but they are affordably worth a try if you think they may be for you.
