I've currently got a set on a 4 string fretless Dean Rhapsody Semi-Hollow Body although I've had them on a fretless Fender A/E Precision and a fretless Franken P with ebony fingerboard. I've been experimenting with different basses, pickups and strings and I kind keep gravitating back toward these (along with GHS pressure wounds and Dean Markley NPS Roundcores). While I know other reviewers have complained that the nylon tapewinding is textured and feels rough on the fingers, I think it feels great. I like the sound as they are bit on the bright side--certainly brighter than a flatwound--and almost the equal to a traditional roundwound. Surprisingly, I SWEAR I can get better harmonics out of these than my NPS Roundcores. The lows are good, although I disagree that one can get an URB sound--as I do own an URB--or a "cool jazzy tone" (whatever that is) as the Fender package promo copy reads. They do have a distinctive tone, are a great option inbetween flat and round string, and are easy on fretless fingerboards. Good sound, good value, and will certainly save some dough down the road in terms of replaning your fingerboard because of roundwound wear.
