First, if you are a light weight bass lover who looks for something light and pretty, avoid this. If you have soul, fire, toughness and want something incredible, this is the bass. I have a Ric 4004 which is a great bass and just beautiful warm sound, and still, I play it about 10 percent as much as this old behemoth. Babies, you have several tones to choose from, a bass so ugly it is gorgeous and something that will be alive after the nuclear holocaust. In fact, there will only be cockroaches and this baby and I put my money on the Peavey. For playing live, get a padded strap and you will be fine. For recording, this thing is great. It was made back when cavemen walked the earth and anything active meant it had a heart beat and that is it. With that said, you run this through old school pedals and it sounds great, but amazingly, I ran it through my Zoom digital effects pedal and it sounded massive and even better than my old Fender. Get this. The price may go up, but get it. It is easily worth over a grand. The only bass I have ever had that I liked more (and I want mine back) is a Peavey Forum AX. Otherwise, the T-40 is the master of basses.
