This amp is top dog. As another chap says on here, Trace have legendary reputation and they manage to up-hold it in this example. They only made around 50 of these but I reccomend if you see one, you at least try it. It is reasonably powerful and will drive an extension cab but in all honesty, you wont need one. The eights have a unique character, extremely punchy and pokey but with lots of bottom end too. These multiple eights wont put out the same bottom end as a 2 x 15" or a single eighteen but you will be suprised at how far they can be pushed before complaint. Very sturdy little speakers. The amp has a new power stage as the old one died a rather nasty death. It was a BiPolar Bear, traces old series 250-300w power stage; Great when they work but terminate everything on the board and in a case of my friend the mains transformer when they die. They also occasionally take the speaker(s) out too. If yours dies, replace it with a 320w Clive Button model like in mine. It is built well and has a distinct trace sound-print but with a more organic feel. The 12 band series are great, I have a 600w head, 4x10" compact 1x15" and a bright box (AH600SMX, 1048H an 1153 and a 4052H) but for plug in and go the V-Types are great. It is reasonably compact but it is as heavy as my 4x10"! Try one if you see it, Ive never played a better combo. Even EBS!
