OtherMy band is called {RED-X} Hard Rock outfit from the Pacific Northwest. Produced by Scott Rockenfield of Queensryche.
I used a an SWR big Bertha; powerd by a Mesa 400+ head. It was honkey and very one dimensional. The louder it got the muddier it got, even in large size halls. A month ago my band wisend' up and bought an SVT-3pro head to an SVT 610hlf cab. After never even hearing the rig(At a 500+ person venue)I was not in the least bit worried to play it. After the stage was set, I almost found myself in tears at the sight of my new rig.........then I was then in awe of the sound as we belted out our first song during soundcheck, we rehearsed for 2 hours! We were a NEW band!!! I didnt even "dial it it" I just used the "rock" factory setting in the handbook, left it there, and then they through a mic' in front of it. Great hard rock sound. I have rented the SVT Classic tube heads and 810 full stacks during tours before and if you are a traveling musician like myself, you know you dont need the mega huge stacks behind you....just have the sound person turn your monitor up. (duh) This is the first modern HI-FI sound I've ever been 100% pleased with. (it also gets just as loud as the before mentioned classic stack) ya just gotta tweak it. I am not into big noisy phallic symbols behind me, I dont care if the rig is even onstage....I just love the sound. In my opinion its Better than a "Classic full tube 810 stack" in every way shape and sound. Awsome job Ampeg!!
