I will start this review with expressing the frustration that I'm sure a lot of bassist feel with the lack of options given to the bassist in the accoustic world. I've checked out every acoustic bass produced by the major manufactuers and found that what you see is what you get PERIOD. The best sounding of the bunch was the guild b30 but still no options. I discoverd McCombs guitars thru a couple of friends,and decided to contact him about building a 7string bass after conversation and planning he began building. About 3 months later my bass arrived. To say I'm pleased is the biggest understatement. This guy is not only affordable but also damn good. He took my ideas and made them better. The true test is sound and it sounds every bit as good as the guild if not better,playability is great,the attention to detail is what you would expect from a custom but the surprise was the reproduction of the B string.
