This bass is very impressive in appearance with the bookmatched
figured maple body it appears to glow under different lighting
conditions. I have recieved several comments on gigs about its
impressive appearance. The 5-piece bolt on neck mates to the
body with 4 screws in a tapered heel joint that is very clean
and strong. The string spacing is 5/8in. which makes it the
narrowest string spacing of any 5-string on the market, this
may not appeal to slappers but is very nice for quick
fingerstyle. The sound is very much like a fender jazz but
somewhat dull in treble snap. The real strength of the sound is
in the midrange growl and strong low end thump. Its a very
enjoyable bass to play but if you are looking for brilliant active
sound, you won't find it here. Instead you will get earth shaking
lows and beautiful passive midrange tones. The neck is a joy and
the fretwork is flawless. I do belive you will need another bass
to get that active bite.
