I love the sound of 15's and it had been sometime since I owned something as nice a my old pair of 15" EV's, which were loaded in cabinets built to EV specs. The Bag End is small and easily portable despite its weight, due to the well placed handles. The large rear port also comes in handy for grabbing the box. The sound is round and reasonably articulate and can go down reasonably low (within the limits of it approx 50hz cut-off). It is definitely an acquired taste. To get an idea of how well it works, I've been using this cabinet in two situations.:1) with an Epifani T-112, which is stacked on top so the horn has better clarity; and 2) with a McCauley 15" sub which is housed in a 4.5 cubic foot enclosure. The first set-up I've been using live with excellent results. I can get it into the back of my Volvo along with a full rack and 2 basses and other misc gear. And, let's not forget, a passenger. Presently, I'm running the system with a Trace Eliot Series 6 AH200 amp. It puts out 200 very loud watts into 4 ohms. This set-up has been astonishingly loud in all sorts of rooms and I have gotten some very nice complements on its clarity. I believe the clarity comes from the Epifani, but strangely, the Bag End really pumps out a usable low end that really works in a live gig. In the other set-up, the Bag End is set on top of the McCauley cab. So, I'm running a full range 2X15" set-up. The McCauley adds a very warm lower octave, which really fills out the low end, where the Bag End stops, but the Bag End, has a growl and articulation that brings out all of the essential characteristics of my Jazz bass which uses Bartolini stacked humbuckers. I have a bunch of different cabs, but I keep coming back to the Bag End to be used with another cabinet. At the end of the day, I'm not certain I could easily part with it, but if it were my only cabinet, I would be looking for another; not necessarily to replace it, but to use with it. Having said all of these glowing things, alone the Bag End would not be sufficient for the sound I'm after.
