I have only had these strings for about a week so I can't vouch for
their long-term use, but so far these are the best strings I have even
played! For flatwounds they are actually quite bright, particularly the E
string which is also very punchy/thumpy. The string tension is, by my
estimates, a tad higher than average but which is to my liking (part of
that might have to do with my action and how my trussrod is set however -
string tension would most likely vary depending on your setup). The strings
are extremely smooth which is also to my liking. They are also extremely
inexpensive for bass strings - $16.56 online at juststrings.com.
Juststrings also had excellent customer service - lots of follow-up e-mails
keeping me up-to-date on the status of my order. To sum up:
1) bright, punchy sound
2) very smooth feeling
3) inexpensive ( goto http://www.juststrings.com )
Note: I play a custom-made fretless fender jazz bass.
