I was using a 6 year old SWR (400) head that sounded great, but started overheating and shutting down (no fan). So, I went out shopping and saw this monster 1200 watt amp for what I thought was a good price at eight and change (new). This has to be the loudest amp that I have ever used. When I tried to fatten up the sound with eq it clipped. I could not get the volume over 1.5 without it clipping. There was always a slight hiss, maybe from the tube pre-amp. After the first gig with this thing I fried all of the speakers in my Bergantino HT322 cab. I used this head with an old 2/15 cab and fried one of the speakers. Durring our last set you could actually smell the coils burning. I will never use this amp again, as I went out and bought a Markbass 800 head that sounds incredible. Buying this amp without doing research has ended up being a very expensive lesson. This amp did sound ok at the store, but maybe it was hooked up to a really strong speaker cab that could handle it's power.
