This is my second acoustic/electric bass guitar. I previously owned an Epiphone El Capitan, but I sold it when I needed some money. I don't remember much about how the El Cap sounded, but I did like the convenience of it.
This ABG was made by Sigma in Korea. It looks pretty much like a jumbo acoustic guitar body with a bass neck attached. The workmanship is good, but not great. One of the tuners isn't quite attached to the headstock correctly (a little crooked). But the build quality is probably on par with other ABGs in this price range.
Playability is pretty good. There was some fret buzz, but it came to me in CA from Michigan, so I gave it time and it settled and most of the buzz is gone.
Unplugged this bass isn't very loud, but the tone is punchy and clear. The undersaddle pickup isn't very high output either. You have to really crank it up to hear it, but when you do, it sounds about as good as possible for an acoustic instrument with a single-source, contact pickup system. I might add a mic and a blender later on.
It's actually a pretty good player, and for the price, I'm definitely keeping it.
