This is my first bass, is not heavy (below 8 lbs, I think), the neck has the right width and a radius of 15" which IMO is perfect. There is some fret buzz in the highest registers but it can be solved easily with the truss rod, if you don't demand ultra low action. The sound is warm and punchy, the mids are not so high. You don't get a lot of tone options with the electronics and the single pickup. This is a good bass for pop, rock or blues. I think it was designed to be used with light strings, I like hard thick strings that sound fat but the problem is that you can loose tone definition at the lower pitches B to F# in the B string. So maybe is better for someone who likes light strings. Also the E string doesen't sound loud enough in the first 9 frets, I kind of solve it adjusting the pickup height and with LaBella's Hard Rocking Steel strings, that's the best E string I know. Major conplains: Dead spots, I HATE THEM!! (ON ANY BASS)in the C and D# tones in the E string. I think I augmented the problem using fat strings. For that reason I'm seriously looking for a graphite or graphite reinforced neck bass, maybe Peavey's G-bass. Anyway I think this is quite a good option for any begginer, I would however recommend the 350 or 360 or BBN4 that have more tone options, look also for the low end Peaveys they are also good for the money. I like the design and the looks of this bass, quite modern (don't like traditional Fender look). The finish and construction is above what I would expect in the price range.
