I really like the looks and sound quality of this light but powerful combo amp. It's also easy on the arms and back with a top lift handle and two recessed side handles.
I had looked for a long time to upgrade from the practice amp ranks for a small to medium gigger. This amp can really fit the bill for most styles with moderate power needs. I can highly recommend it without hesitation for $600-$800 combo class applications. I still can't get over how clean it sounds with a total harmonic distortion (THD) of 0.1% (15 times less THD than my last amp - thus the bass "mud" tones).
It has a very good range of tonal shaping without too many controls - especially no easy to break off slide EQ's (my favorite amp peeve). The 24 fin, rear heat sink does a nice job of dissipation sans fans and fan noise. The head phone jack works very well and is responsive to the gain and master controls. Overall reequency response is 35-15,000hz with a sensativity of 100db/SPL.
I can get some nice, velvety sustain in the low end with the 10's. Made a believer out of me that 15's are not necessarily the Holy Speaker Grail for the low end. The horn can be dialed in nicely for hi-fi edge, tapping or slapping needs. Best of all, this rig sounds quite good when set flat. Quarter turns of this and that control is usually all I need for various tones and presence.
Since I got the Nemesis, I found out that the tone control on my Epiphone Viola is just fine. Just needed to right amp to deliver the tones from the humbucking PU's.
