Features : Humbucking, passive from a Music Man SUB 5. This pickup works with a P Schaller in neck position and with a active circuit EMG BTS control ... great miscelaneus of brands.

Instrument : I have installed this pickup in a GUILBER bass fretless model JA-05. I have this bass since 1993. It is a five strings fretless bass made in Brazil by a luthier from Curitiba city. It is seems like a Music Man Sting Ray made with very good brazilianīs woods. The pickup is in bridge position (series operation). It is replacing a Bartolini MMC (great pu now used in other instrument). There is a Schaller - P in the neck position.

I have got this MM from a MM SUB 5 I have. In the SUB 5 now I have two Bass Line SMB 5 (ceramic) in neck and bridge position. Original active circuit... no regrets. Maybe it is one of feel SUB 5, in this planet, with 2 pickups!!

Sound : 10 Great output level. The Sound of the MM pickup produce a very clear and articulate tone that can be shaped easily with the two band EQ of a EMG BTS control. The mids can be rolled back and the lows pumped up to create that nice thump sound. Like it is traditional in MuMan, I have a smooth distortion of mids when playing hard. In this bass I have warm and deeper sound in series mode. There is very good sustain across the fingerboard and a nice even tone throughout(like Pino Paladino in "Lady in red"). This is indeed a top notch five string bass that offers beauty to the eye as well as beautiful music to the ears. I play blues, pop and brazilian music like samba, bossa nova and baiao. The Schaller P and the MM together give me a amazing combination for playing brazilian music.

Overall Rating : 10 I play bass since 1981. I have had many Fender, Ibanez, Ken Smith, Rickembacker, Yamaha and a lot of Brazilians and Europeans luthiers. It??s relatively rare to find a bass with this arrange of pickups - P and MM. I love the MM sound and the good job with the schaller P. I??m very satisfied with this pickup. This is my real fretless sound. I use this bass in studio and stage. No noise, special punch, super tone and clarity. If it was destroyed or stolen, I would buy it again... period.
