This is a serious instrument for serious musicians. Originally a 3/4 size electric guitar purchased in c. 1981 at Nat Walsh Musical Instruments, Framingham, MA for $45, this piece was altered by the Brothers Epstein who needed a bass fast, but had no money purchase a new one.

This is an absolute ONE-OF-A-KIND !!

The first modification was the flipping of the bridge to allow for a longer scale length. At this point, the frets became meaningless, as they no longer distinguished half-note steps. The nut had 2 grooves added to allow for the heavier gauge strings.

Next, a chunk of wood staples were added to the pickup circuit for no particular reason and new stereo plug output jack was added.

Lastly, some puffy paint was added to the body and the headstock, as well as an original JonnyAction print of "Sheep at a Gas Station" which resides under the strings, between the pickup and the neck. The "LMYMPDSM" on the headstock stands for "Lick me. Yank me. Please don't spank me."

The instrument plays beautifully. Like a fretless, pretty much. The wood staples add much tone and sustain.
