It's a stereo tube compressor with stereo and dual mono operating modes. The controls are very simple, a rotary threshold, switches for active/bypass, fast/auto compression types and compression/limiting.
I tried this unit out against my old Yamaha compressor and the Levellar knocked it for six! It's apparent simplicity belies the effectiveness of the compression on offer. It's really simple to dial up warm, soft but very powerful compression that really boost the punchiness of your bass sound.
I also tried using the unit as the only additional part of the signal chain from my bass to my PC and was able to produce a very clear and warm sound without any additional EQ.
The store was under the impression that ART have folded. I don't believe this is the case. I can thoroughly reccomend this unit. If you record your own music at home, then the dual levellar will prove very useful giving your overall mixes that warm sound of tape being pushed. Plus, you get to use it live!
