I've had two of these cabinets for eight months now and have had time
to test them in more or less demanding performance situations. I play
a custom Jazz-style bass through an Ampeg SVP preamp and one channel
of a QSC PLX 3002 power amp into one B4 cabinet. For outdoors or large
rooms I run one cabinet out of each channel of the amp. In rooms of
various sizes with various acoustics I have been able to achieve
studio quality tone virtually every time. This cabinet far exceeds
anything I've used in 30+ years of constant gigging. They are
relatively light and compact, built to last and they look good if
that's important. Dealing with designer/builder Andy Lewis is a
dream. This guy took the time to talk to me personally, and everything
he said he would do, he did. And pronto. You can only buy them mail
order, but Andy gives you a couple weeks to check them out, and if you
don't like them (I can't imagine anyone not liking them( you send it
back for a refund. The only way I will let loose of mine is if
someone pries them from my lifeless hands. The cabinet comes in a 4
or 8-ohm version. Keep in mind that they are power hungry: I run 900
watts into mine and it sings. Absolutely no distortion, clipping or
coloration, which may sound a bit weird for those who don't really
like a flat response.
