high-end cabs out there.
Sound-wise, the Aquilar is somewhere between Acme and Eden--it's smoother and more open than the Edens I've owned. Compared to the Acme, it's brighter
with a little more low mids and less depth, but a lot louder. It cuts through
nicely, and handles high volume well. I run it with a Demeter pre going into a 1200 watt Mackie power amp, and it keeps up with my guitarist's two 100-watt Marshall half-stacks fairly easily.
Despite the nearly 100 pount weight spec, this cab is actually doesn't feel any heavier to move than my Acme, which is 20 pounds lighter. The comfortable, well placed handles make it reasonably easy to haul, even without the casters--I was pleasantly surprised. Too bad it's just a touch too big to fit into my hatchback with the back seat up!
Though it may be tough to track one down, I'd certainly urge folks thinking about a 4x10 from Eden, SWR, etc. to take a look at the Aguilar cabs. I'm looking forward to trying the new Ag 1x12 for smaller gigs.
