I own a chech Republic made Spector 5 string bass bought in '98 from Sam Ash in Tenn. As a beginner in '98 I purchased my bass mainly on looks. Overall it sounded awesome until recently I heard a Warwick Pro 5 and fell in love with the warm low end it produced.

I started a relentless search for TONE improvement for the low end only because the B string notes sounded hollow with the original EMG BT preamp circuit. Another gripe about the EMG preamp was it was hard to get a bridge growl. Play back on the bridge I lost volume and punch. All that to say this.

My new 18 Volt Aguilar preamp upgrade was the best decision I've made in my quest for TONE. I can now get warm low end growl that makes me want to play. I'm reaching for more stuff musically than ever before. I still have all the brightness of the maple body combined with the sweet musical high end. No more messin' around struggling for tone. Awesome sounds on every turn of the knob.

It cost me $80 for the preamp, $10 for the 2 extra knobs, $50 to have it professionally installed, costing $140.00 all together. Money is no object when you play for Jesus.

Bottom Line: Aguilar OBP-1 is worth installing!!! Just Do it! --Eugene Yambaw in Sac,CA
