This is the best bass I’ve ever owned in 24 years. The control has got a wide usable range of sounds, usable for stage and studio. I play all kind of styles and this bass can do it all. The combination with my Trace Elliot (300 watt combo 2x10" + cabinet 1x15") is perfect. Especially when you play funky. First I had to get used to the honesty of the guitar. You can really hear everything you play, so you also hear every smallest mistake, you can't disguise it. But now I can use this characteristic in my own advantage and in a short time I made a huge progress in my technique. With my previous basses (Kramer, Fernandez, Ibanez musician, Fender Precision etc.) it was difficult to compete with the volume of the always too loud playing guitar players. But somehow the Epic cuts easily through the guitar soundwall without playing louder. If I ever consider to buy an other bass, it will be another (maybe more advanced) Alembic.
