This was my dream bass for over 5 years....and finally came true! I got this bass through Evan from Bass Northwest, since he promised that he could get me the most beautiful wood for me. And he was right. The top cocobolo I got was undescribable! Since I'm a huge fan of Mark King (that's right, that Mark King from Level 42) I had to get LEDs.

Construction is the best I've ever seen....and I think I've seen alot. It was hard for me to justify spending this much money on something I have never touched yet.....but it was no problem. Although, neck seemed bit bulky for my small Jap hand, (I'm not small though, 6" 200 lbs) but I got used to it. This bass sounds every bit of Alembic. It sounds ALIVE! I have Status S2 and it sounds..."lifeless"

I added "dummy" dummy center hum-canceller.....for cosmetic reason....I wanted the Series II look...that's why I got 7 piece neck instead of standart 5. This is very heavy bass. I don't know any other bass that is more back-breaker than this bass! But with a little help of wider strap, it's OK now.

Few things bothers me......

1. They moved the location of neck pickup towards bridge!!! It's about 1/2 inch from the brass place that covers truss rod. No more Mark King look....

2. The brass tail piece is off center! I've seen this on many Alembic basses. But none of the bass in their catalog has this problem!!! I blame this on set up guys at Alembic! I even told Even about this and.......I got a bass with off-centered tail piece..

Other than that, this bass is dream to play and looks too cool to be true! But I still think Mark's Cocobolo looks the best. (his medium scale one)
