I have been searching for an Ampeg bass for 30years. When I saw that they were going to be re-issued, I knew I had to have one. This bass was shipped to me in March '98, and as soon as I picked it up, I felt like I had been playing it for all those wasted years. A beautiful instrument in red sunburst, it has the classic Ampeg scroll head stock and the f-hole style cutaways all the way through the body. A very long scale bass, it has a very tight low end. The Rick Turner pickup is very smooth and even. I think that this instrument is a huge improvement over the original construction from the '60s. This is my primary bass. I use it 75% of the time with the rest of the time spent on a '69 Fender Precision.
