I've always been a fan of the original B15, so I was quite surprised the first time I tried a B-100R. The problems I had with the B-15 had been solved (low end, volume). Too many higher end amps add hiss or break up on the low end or have no mids or seriously color the sound. I get the sound of the instrument, only with more of whatever I need, without crossing the line to harsh. I was fortunate enough to find one used recently and am now even more amazed. Not only does it have killer, warm tone for fingerstyle and slap, it can fill a room. I was surprised to see a reviewer suggest it's not very good for fusion or slap. In my experience I use it for both, with American Jazz Deluxe V's, Zon Legacy V fretless, older Tobias Signature 5 and Yamaha TRB6II, among other things. It sounds great with all of them. The dual rear ports allow it to really let a B string shine and I have no problem getting an agressive, punchy low end and smooth, clear highs without any extraneous noise. The recommendation I would make with this amp is to ignore the specs. There is no cooling fan. It doesn't run hot. I think that is one more mark of a great design (my AMP BH-420 doesn't have a fan, either). It's quiet, clear, punchy, powerful and looks pretty cool and unassuming. Sounds great at low, medium and high stage volume. You don't expect a little 100w combo to perform like this.

The downside, because nothing's perfect, would be the weight. At 65 lbs. it's not a featherweight. You can get castors. The weight is a miniscule issue with me. It fits in the trunk of my car easily and has the tone I've been searching for. The relatively larger equipment I have stays at home now.
