What's not to like? This is simply the coolest looking, best sounding mid size combo going. The 50's/60's retro styling with the Blue Diamond tolex and the stovetop control knobs is just too cool. The volume levels produced by the B-100 are surprisingly h igh. I have no problem in the small (100 -200 seats)clubs where I play. And the tone will melt butter. Warm, well rounded, very tube-like. This isn't an amp for someone interested in the harsh, thin bass sound that's out there right now. No sir. This is a straight ahead rumble machine for blues and classic rock. Both of my basses are 4 string, but I'm sure this amp would have no problem with 5 strings. I play a Fender Jazz and a Precision. Both of them sound fabulous through this amp. The P's a one-trick pony, but so NICE through the B-100. The Jazz has a bigger range of tones, all well atriculated through this amp. If you need a medium powered combo, you can't go wrong with this Ampeg. It's a real bargain.
