Cab- The angled cab concept is very useful for any small combo, not just this one. The rear ported vent on the amp increases the tone 30% (I stuffed it
and tested the sound).
Amp Section - Is very basic. Single gain contrl w/ 3 band Para tones, plus a 5 position fixed EQ switch for contoure. I leave it in the fattest possible position. There must be a build in governer to prevent over-drive since I cannot get the amp to overdrive the spkr (This is good!). The amp has a CD-input with standard RCA jacks for connection of your battery-op CD player. The cd in is on the second-stage of the amp, which allows contrl of volume by the player w/o messing with the bass input. Smart feature. Headphone out is good, and 1/4in. line unbal line out is good for tuners. I doubt if I'd ever use it to a mixing board.
Cons: The active input is too attenuated for reasonable gain even with my active basses. I just plug into the passive input and be done with it. Ampeg doesn't offer a vinyl rain cover but I believe a Carvin monitor cvr will fit. Thecab is balanced a bit odd when placing it in a truck, but a second-handle in the bottom should take care of that issue. The prw xformer is mounted outside of the amp section, probably for space and EMF issues. All for all, this is a solid build little amp with very good tone for reasonable $$.
