First of all, this is a great amp! I was considering a few other 100-watt combos and i think the ampeg is the best...but it's not perfect.

There's a lot to like about this amp. It has two inputs for passive and active basses, which i like. It is definitely loud enough and very strong. It's very sturdy and can stand a lot of abuse, even though it's a little heavy...but since i don't gig that much and most of the time the amp's stays in the same place, bulkiness wasn't a factor in my decision for this amp. The retro style is really really cool, it sure beats plastic black casings on most combos. The tone is very nice...pretty warm and it can be changed somewhat.

But what made me get it over the other amps i was considering (Fender BXR100, Crate BX100, SWR Workingman's 12) is how clean the sound is! It's amazing, there's practically no extra sound!! The other above mentioned amps that i tried either had a slight hissing/crackling problem, or picked up too much extra noise like fretting noises, that i find very annoying. It's much MUCH cleaner than all the other amps. In my opinion, this is a HUGE plus.

There are a few things that i don't like about it though. The tone is very nice, but i wanted something with just a little more bottom end punch. The amp brings across low notes very well, but without the extra kick and boom that the other amps that i tried definitely had. The effects help a little bit but not as much as i wanted it to. My other dislike about it is the small number of effects. This isn't too big of a problem because the tone can be changed somewhat, but i would've liked something with more effects...and all of the other amps i mentioned do have many effects.

This amp has everything that i need and most of what i want, and for a decent price i am extremely happy with it and i would definitely reccomend it to anybody as the best 100-watt combo out there.
