This is definitely the most versatile bass preamp on the market. Since I play many different styles of music, I needed a pre-amp with limitless tonal possibilities. Any sound I desire, from Korn to Stanley Clarke, the SVP-PRO delivers. The real key to a good sound is tons of clean power. The rule of thumb is twice the power that your speakers are rated. Thats why I chose a pre-amp and a power amp as opposed to a straight bass head. The next step is versatile cabinets. I spent 2.5 hours in my local music store playing through every 4x10 bass cabinet that they had. Aguliar, Ampeg, Bag-end, Eden, Gallien Krueger, Genz Benz, Hartke, Peavey, Mesa, SWR, and Trace Eliiott. Now that's a lot of cabinets!!! Anyway, I played through each one several times with the same parameters, and believe it or not I chose the Genz Benz. This is the most over looked cabinet on the market. Super tight and Ultra low at the same time. Now I have the ultimate bass rig. Furman-power conditioner/tuner, Ampeg-SVP-PRO preamp, QSC-PLX 3402 power amp, and (4) Genz Benz GB410T-XB bass cabinets. My basses include an US Spector w/ Aguliar oBP-1 pre-amp, and a Warwick Streamer Stage 2 w/EMG pickups and Eq. Keep Thumpin!!!
