I bought this cabinet to replace another 15" cabinet I was using
previously. Ampeg makes serious bass gear, and this cabinet is no
exception. It's solid as a rock, compact and fairly light for its size.
The cabinet has two ports in front, a single 15" speaker, and two 1/4"
inputs in the rear. It's about as no-frills as you can get.
And now for the sound from this beast...It's vintage Ampeg. Strong bottom
end, crisp and clean with no muddiness or "boominess" that I've heard
from some other 15" cabs. I drive this cabinet with an Ampeg SVT III head
(350 watts into 4 ohms...this cabinet plus an 8 ohm 2x10 cab), and it
responds beautifully.
Ampeg is synonymous with quality bass gear, and this is another fine
example of their craftsmanship and "killer bass tone". At $175 used, it
was a deal I'm glad I didn't pass up
