The new SVT-II Pro model has a protection circuitry inside, that has a high failure rate. So, what was meant to help...hurts.
I have never had a problem with this amp. It is not as noisy as most tube amps, very reliable, powerful as hell, and contains the best bass tones I have ever heard.
I have talked with other users of this amp, and they feel the same. Evidently, this period of SLM production had some quality engineering happening, because it is far and above the best bass amplification I've ever used (and over the last 18 years I've used a butt load. Demeter, Eden, SWR, etc...)
Top knotch. Will never get rid of it, and am on the search for another, just in case.
