This is hands down the baddest amp I have ever had the privilege to plug into. I was sold on SWR equipment and was in the market for a new amp. I was going to purchase the SM-900, but a friend of mine suggested I try the SVT Classic before making my decision. I went and played on both of the amps. I was blown away with the tone I got out of the ampeg. I then played the SM-900. It sounded okay, but the funniest thing was the guy at the shop hooked it up wrong so I ended up clipping out the SM-900, and it started smoking and then died. I debated over purchasing the SVT only because of the weight of the amp. I didn't take very long. I went back the same day played it again on a few different set ups and with Warwick fretted basses and fretless as that is what I play. I was so impressed by this amp that I took it home right then. Since then I have used it as my main amp. I have never experienced any sort of problem with it what so ever. The things heats up kicks out the sound and is always ready for more. I don't use it for practice, only for gigs. This amp is built really well. The entire power section is exposed, but it is all protected my a mesh screen on the back. It has an internal fan which automatically comes on and keeps your tubes as cool as possible. The fan makes very very little noise. I will leave you with this. This is more of a young mans amp due to the weight of it. But if you are willing to sacrifice a little sweat and gruntig to drag your amp to the gig this amp is worth every penny and then some. It will really kick out the tone.
