For those not familiar with bag end gear, let me start with the D10XD cab. This is a 2x10 with a tweeter mounted in the center of one of the 10" drivers. This cab is absolutely clean clean clean. Very subtly tuned (ported). This cab plays loud, and it plays low. The sound is so crystal clear, unless you purposely overdrive, etc. I get great low rumbling fingerstyle dub stylebass tones, and punchy slap tones without turning a knob. To be short, this cab is AWESOME! it is small enough that its weight is not a problem (not awkward to carry, and it has excellent fold out handles), and sounds as good quiet as it does loud.
The D10ED subwoofer is a rare 2x10 bag end subwoofer made for the bass guitar. This puppy (along with a bag end elf integrator-- a 1 rack space unit that makes the sub thump, and acts as a x-over). This subwoofer is TINY compared to my old 18" sub, weighs about 1/2 as much, and sounds sooooo much better. It has a freq. response from 18hz to 150hz (if you get the top of the line elf integrator it responds from 8hz to 150hz). No, really, I mean it. This thing puts out tones that you can barely hear, but you can definitely feel. Bag end also makes these subs in 2x12, 18, and 2x18 configurations. All with the same freq response. The bass is very tight, and round, and FAST. The subwoofer cab is sealed, and the speakers are airtight. Seems odd, but the damn thing works!
With the D10XD cab and the D10ED sub I can play any stage there is. I have played in venues where I was off the PA, filling a big room with my 4 10" speakers, then during an intermission switching to the PA, turning down, and doing just fine. The cab and sub both play great at high volume or at quiet apartment building practice volume. I truly love this setup, and I don't miss the money I spent on it at all.
