Review: I was looking for a good, easily-transportable, all-around cabinet to use with my Eden WT-400 when I bought this one. My opinion of it is mixed. On the one hand, it is a very solid, modestly sized, high-quality cabinet. It has an assertive punch that I like, and I enjoy it's clarity. I had to have the speaker driver replaced when I first got it (used) and Bag End's support was really good. They took prompt care of the problem, and even replaced the driver for the same price as a repair, since they didn't have a repair kit in stock. I had it back in about a week and a half. The company seems like a great company and the equipment seems solid as a rock.
On the other hand, this cabinet seems to be a little too strong on the mids, and kind of lacking in bottom. I really wanted a cabinet that could get a variety of tones, from deep rumbly lows to punchy cutting mids and highs. (Too much to ask from a 12"? I'm thinking maybe the Aguilar GS-112 has it...) Well, the mids are there, but no matter how I EQ it, the speaker really doesn't deliver much in the low end department. It just doesn't feel very flexible on the lows. I think I'm going to have to trade it in for something else.
Overall, I'd say that if you like this kind of tone, then this is probably a great speaker for you. It might work very well for uprights, etc., and the clarity and punch seem quite good. Maybe someone with some more experience could get better performance out of it than I could, but I just don't think it's the all-around cabinet that I'm looking for.
