I purchased this cab with high expectations, but hadn't heard one prior to my purchase. I already owned a Euphonic Audio CXL-112 which is a great cab but weighs 49lbs, so I needed something a little easier to haul around for small gigs. I also had owned a EA CXL-110 which sounded great for it's size but I was hoping the Bergantino would give more volume. Reviews on the Bergantino and the feedback I had received from players who had heard them or owned them have all given these cabs raving reviews. The cab definitely met my criteria in size and weight, being just a little larger than a EA CXL-110.

I tried the cab with a Walter Woods Ultra High Power 1200 watt and Gibson GB-440 (this is the same amp as the AMP BH-420, one the best amps I've ever played through). My first impression was not very favorable and it never got better. The lows were were hard to get the definition I was used to with the EA's and the tweeter was the harshest I've ever heard from any cabinet. No matter what EQ setting I tried I was unable to get a natural smooth focused tone I was used to with the EA's. The tone reminded me of a Genz Benz more than anything else. It did seem to get fairly loud for it's size, but what's volume without tone!

For the $539 price tag I expected a much better quality sounding cabinet. From someone who has tried EA and Bergantino, the Bergie's aren't in the same league!
