I have had these cabinets for less than 24 hours.I got the wonderful chance to take them right to my gig at the Luxor casino,here in Las vegas.Before you even play a single note through the cabs. you notice off the bat, the awesome look and construction.They are built to last.Combine the covers jim offers,and they will stay handsome and in prestine condition under normal playing and load in/out situations.now,what really matters: SOUND..... first of all,I play in a funk/RnB/top 40 band.I use an swr pre-amp dbx 266 compressor mackie 1400i power amp bridged mono.My main bass is a 5 string musicman.I knew in 2 seconds that these cabinets smoked,killed,and ate the lunch of every single cabinet I have ever owned.The low end is amazing.Focused,powerful,and tight.Zero "flab"or "boom".You can play at way lower volumes with these cabinets than you are used to because of the fact that there so clean. You can hear every note your playing with out cranking the crap out of everything.The mid's are juicey and brimming with string detail.I have never played so quiet and actually been able to "hear"my notes with surgical precision.You don't have to use tons of right hand attack to get your notes to come out.Last,but for sure not least,the highs.Breath-taking.velvet like and clear as a bell.Not that normal"clank" and super obvious sound where the horn is taking over.When you increase the horn,all you get is more highs,what a concept!Please apply what I am about to type:Stop settling for the same ol'semi-pro tone and go for the gold.These cabinets are THE REAL DEAL.Jim has raised the bar,its time for us as bassplayers,to do the same.Once you hear the true voice of your bass,you will never go back.This is a quantum leap in tone from what I had.(eden xlt410)I have been baptized in tone.Now its your turn to "hear"the light.
