First off, let me just say that if you haven't read the review of the Carvin LB75, let me assure you to leave all inhibitions and reservations about ordering factory direct right here. These basses are absolutely superb. I spent about $1200 on my LB76 Six string, and it is worth every penny. I've played Tobias, Pedulla, Soundgear, and other high-end six strings, and this hangs with and beats all of them. Also, for the kind of custom options I got (paint job, neck finish, abalone inlays, etc.) any bass comparable would probably cost $1800+. The neck is very comfortable and fast, and not as bulky or difficult as most sixes. The tones are great. Carvin has just made available a mid-range control, which I don't have on my Carvin 5 string. This bass has all the same tones described in the LB75 review on this page, plus a few new ones. With the extra mid range control, I can get tones that cut through the thickest guitars and let every note be heard. The low B is as solid as ever, and the sustain is endless. The bass is light but has a thick sound, and is comfortable and easy to wear onstage. The only downside to these Carvins are that the necks need a little tweaking every few months. The ebony fretboards tend to adjust to the climate, but the $10 every few months I pay to have my basses professionally adjusted is well worth the sound (and the look of the ebony) for that matter. If you've been close to ordering one, but have been a little apprehensive about the mail-order part, trust me, and check one out. The neck will probably need a little adjusting at first due to heat extremes during shipping. (I've worked at UPS, and I've seen how they're handled and felt the heat they're in), so don't be put off if it doesn't feel great right away. This one's a winner!
