The above specs are for the 2 rack space head mounted in the top of the combo. It also includes 2 10" Eminence speakers and a Fostex horn with an L-pad. The cabinet is rated at 600 watts, and it can take the amp bridged all night long at extreme levels. The cabinet will tilt back, like a monitor wedge, or can sit upright on top of another cabinet. This combo is easy to transport and is built very ruggedly.

The amp section simply rocks. All the tone shaping you could ever ask for. SVT, SWR, Eden, Bassman... they're all available. The control panel looks complicated, but it's laid out very intuitively, and lends itself to helping you shape your sound correctly. Go from left to right and then you're done. The user manual is very informative and also gives instructions for developing your sound and suggestions for some settings on the amp. 600 watts is plenty of power for most situations, and I have never been let down by this amplifier.

The cabinet is very modern sounding, which is understandable considering its components. It is built from poplar plywood which is light and strong. The covering is black Duratuff carpeting which holds up very well. The plastic handles are a little flexible under the 75lb load, especially when carrying the amp by only one handle, but they have never failed. When placed on the floor in the tilted back position, the amp is very stable. The rubber feet keep it in place even on slippery floors. Being in this position aims the speakers directly at your head. You can really hear yourself without playing at high stage levels. I always play through the PA, and my Front of House engineer really loves this amp. Even in small venues he doesn't have to battle with my stage volume.

As for sound. I play active 5 and 6 strings through this amp all the time. It doesn't handle the low B like an 18", but I didn't expect it to. It's possible to go from a great modern Eden slap tone, with tons of punch, to a vintage Fender tube fat warm fuzzy thing. It's all in there. For slap freaks, I would run a good rack compressor after the crossover like Victor and many others, but the compressor in the head is great for occasional slap and for helping to even out agressive fingerstyle playing. I don't care for the noise gate. It clips off the front of the first note you play if you're quiet long enough for it to kick in. My basses are all dead quiet, so I don't use this feature. The control over the power amp section is great. If you're bi-amping with the internal crossover, you have independent control over the separate amp sections and the a master volume so you can just turn the whole thing up without messing up the balance between the low and high cabinets. This amp really shines on top of a RL115 or RL118 cab. When teamed with a 15 or 18 on the bottom, you get a massive sound with easy transportability and 600 watts.

You can't beat this little combo with big sound and big power, for the price. I play approx. 160 shows a year, in all types of venues, and I use all of the 600 watts on occasion, and this amp has never failed. It sounds as good as the day it arrived. I sold my SWR rig when it got here. I can load in to a big show in 2 trips now, and hear myself without killing everyone else on stage. There is no better value combo amp out there.
