Likes: This bass is very easy to play, just like a 6 string. The action is nice and low and the neck is thin and fast. I have now 4 1/2 octaves (from the Low B up), and am able to really play. All in all it is a great and versatile bass, especially for that price. I decided to purchase the Import model, since the only difference is the Mighty Mite preamp instead of the Bartolini NTMB, and I was tired to take my expensive Ken Lawrence to every gig and being concerned about eventual damage.
Dislikes: The low B is alright but not Ken Smith or Ken Lawrence (the ultimate bass, baby) tight but does the job. A 35" scale would have easily remedied this little problem. If you are interested in purchasing a GT-7 go with the bolt on model but I am planning to replace the mediocre Mighty Mite preamp with a barolini or a smililar quality preamp, it will make a huge difference, even though the Mighty Mite sounds very reasonable through my Demeter Preamp and ARTSGX Nightbass FX configuration. If you play without effects (I don't use that many anyway), get a better onboard preamp, it's worth the money and you still have a supberb bass for ~$1,000.00.
All in all it a great instrument especially for that price and quality is excellent, compared to some other high priced basses which cost 3 or 4 times more. I am right now in for $799.00 and couldn't be happier.
