Mine is an older Curbow, and the string spacing at the bridge is 11/16"--typical for a 5, but much narrower than is current for Curbow. It's very comfortable for fingerstyle, though a touch close for slapping. The width at the nut is 1-7/8, which is just about perfect, but again, the newer Curbows are a touch wider.
The construction is top-notch. The 5-bolt neck joint is extremely tight and solid, and the fretwork is immaculate. The wenge top with the black harware and the black-stained neck is quite striking, and the body is very sleek and graceful, though the headstock shape takes a little getting used to. My only complaint about the body (which is not the carved-top version) is that it's very thin front-to-back and almost _too_ sleek, so some of the countouring on the edge winds up being a bit too sharp for comfort. Also, it's light enough that the bass winds up being a bit neck-heavy.
The electronics are very flexible, and very quiet--not a touch of hiss, even with the treble boosted all the way. The 3-position midrange frequency switch (250/500/750Hz) gives additional tonal control. The overall tone is like a somewhat livelier version of a Jazz Bass--the pickups are hum-cancelling, but have that bright single-coil top end, plus the Jazz "growl". This bass is much punchier than my old Modulus 5 was, but still has the same quick response with slapping. The low B is not quite as clear as the other strings, but I think a new set of strings with a slightly lighter gauge B will help.
