The neck is fretted for 7 frets than fretles but lined thereafter. This is not for everyone but is very uniqe in sounds. The fretted part is very bright and growly, if you rol the highs back about halfway the fretless end is very trombony I personally love this bass (as most Daion owners do) Daion was years ahead of their time. The really fun part is watching someone else play it.
