Right out of the box this bass looks impressive. I need an eight string bass to add to my studio collection for variety and I have to tell you this bass impressed me for its construction and over all sound. Very quite when plugged in, electronics had no noise, its an active bass and has some punch when turned up, 24 frets all are accesible. Fret job is good with no rough edges on fretboard. EMGS are a nice touch to this bass and fit it well. I would recommend a setup . Only negatives are, It has a little wieght to it so if standing up it could wear on your shoulder. And the A strings were a little further spaced apart than the others and doesn't look like they can be adjusted easily, the way the bridge is set. Neck is not like the wafer Hagstrom bass this feels a little like a Precision bass neck.
