I purchased this bass and the fretless as my "Holy Grail" basses. This bass is the signature Elrick body shape w/ a Chechen Burl top (Walnut-like) and a FAT "C"-type Wenge Neck w/ Wenge board. You can get more modern tones, and a dark, smooth P-bass type, but don't expect a ringing Maple-Board tone from this bass. Really good for Jazz and fingerstyle. Excellent fretted for doubling upright with - See my other Elrick review for more details. Again, highly recommended.
