It was cheap so you can't expect much but its one buzzing mother, you really gotta turn down all your amp's setting (mid etc) to get a clean sound so you cant get much of a tonal difference. The tone control does work well however but makes a gritty crackling noise sometimes when it is turned, this also happens with the volume knob. The strap holder thing on the end slowly worked its way out of the guitar and could not be screwed back in coz it was screwed directly into the wood and its very cheap wood coz flakes of wood drop out if you shake it. I had to tape it back on. Overall its a good starter bass coz its got a smaller neck. Cheap and kinda cheerful. Remember the price when looking at the ratings coz its gonna be low.
