I recently bought this bass used. I must say that the feel is great. The neck is straight as an arrow w/ low, consistent action the whole way up the neck. The ash body isn't too heavy, which makes it slightly resonant and the bass has a good acoustic property when unplugged. Plugged in, the bass is very punchy. Even with all the EQ knobs flat. The bass boost really gives the bass some thunk on the low end while the mids really help to define a sound. Rock, funk, jazz, ... The only complaint that I have is the treble control. Even in a flat position, it's a bit over the top. I have a tendency to roll it back slightly out of the mix.
Construction on the bass is fantastic. Used as it is, the finish is beautiful, and the 6-bolt neck isn't going anywhere. The satin finish neck is really sleek and plays well. All in all, I am a satisfied owner.
My Stingray came with a Hipshot D-tuner on it. I haven't heard good things about them, but this one works like a charm. No problems going in and out of tune.
A solid bottom dweller with a top end bite that is suitable for many situations.
