This is another great bass purchase, I bought this first of a kind F-Bass at the New York Bass Boutique. It's the first of its kind to have the reverse tuning machines, two up top, three on the bottom. It's a 35-1/2 scale neck, with a little heavier swamp ash body for better tonal quality. It has to be the most playable bass I have, a little more playable than my custom Ambush bass, and that's saying a lot.

What I like most are the electronics. A wide variety of sounds are possible with the neck pick-up volume control, bridge pick-up volume control (with push/pull hum-cancelling or single coil option), active/passive (push/pull) tone control and bass, mid-range, treble boost controls. It has a monster "B" string, with a warm clarity unmatch by any bass I've heard. The F-Bass is a great finger playing bass in either mode passive or active. Super sustain, great slap bass especially with the single coil option. Cut the neck pick-up back to get that Jaco sound. George Furlanetto does the pick-ups and electronics on his basses, at least he did with the F-Bass I have per Jimmy's specifications (Owner of the Bass Boutique), so you have in my opinion a true vintage Fender Jazz/Precision Bass sound, with many other sound options.

What I like most about the F-Bass is the quality and simplicity of contruction. Not a lot of add-ons, George's approach is simple, less is more, no vanity with the exotic top woods, stringers and soforth. The result is a very well balanced, exotic in its own right, and outstanding instrument. I would stongly recommend the F-Bass if you are looking to move up to the high-end basses. Just like my Ambush bass I never go to bed without play my F-Bass.
