These were made in 1996 to commemorate Fender's 50th Anniversary. Essentially it's an American Std. Jazz but it's "beautified" a bit.
It's an alder body with flamed maple venier top and back. All gold hardware. These were limited to only 500 pieces total. Mine is #J465 of J500. Overall it plays well, and has a great passive funk tone that I haven't heard from any other jazzes that I've played.
I bought it for the collectible value of the piece. But had it not been there, I would've bought the $575 American Standard Jazz.
Bottom line is it's an American Std. Jazz. It just looks nice.
